On March 6th, at Inter Battery 2024, a battery storage exhibition in Seoul, Korea, LEAD introduced its independently developed new generation high-speed cutting and stacking machine. This machine offers higher efficiency, stability, and a higher degree of intelligence, breaking the limit of “Z” shape stacking machine with a machine capacity of 0.116 s/pcs.
Compared with the previous generation, the fifth-generation “Z” shape cutting and stacking machine has several mechanical and structural innovations to shorten production time and ensure production accuracy, achieving a 5s auxiliary time in cell unloading and an overall cell overhang of ±0.2mm. The application of intelligent monitoring has enabled this model to achieve an overall yield rate of 99.8% and an availability of 98.5%.
Currently, the industry has an capacity of more than 0.125 s/pcs, an overall cell overhang of ±0.3mm, and a yield rate of 99.5%. LEAD’s fifth-generation high-speed cutting and stacking machine has a clear edge over others. As onsite staff explained, this model employs multiple self-developed innovative technologies, enhancing production capacity through multiple closed-loop control at the unit level, and introducing AI algorithms for product flow and information processing. Through comprehensive monitoring of the production process, it significantly improves quality control capabilities and the efficiency of eliminating NG sheets.
Since its establishment in 1999, LEAD has always regarded technological innovation and R&D breakthroughs as its core competitiveness, investing heavily in R&D every year around technology leadership. LEAD has been endeavoring to transform cutting-edge technologies into enterprise productivity, create value for customers with leading technologies and a focus on perfect service. As a result, LEAD is able to lead the new energy equipment industry in terms of technology and scale worldwide, winning over 1600 stacking machine orders, owning more than 50% of the market share in the lithium-ion cell stacking industry, and earning a good reputation among customers.
In recent years, LEAD has focused on high-end markets and global layout, offering an integrated development model of “product + service”, providing cost-effective, high-yield, high-consistency whole-line solutions for customers. LEAD’s businesses cover all mainstream and new types of cells including prismatic, pouch, cylindrical, sodium-ion, solid/semi-solid, and condensed-state cells. Since entering the international market in 2018, LEAD has established 15 subsidiaries and 50 service points worldwide backed by its rich R&D resources and delivery experience. As well-known overseas lithium-ion battery and new energy vehicle manufacturers such as Sony, Volkswagen, ACC, BMW, and Northvolt have purchased lithium-ion cell equipment from LEAD, the company has expanded its businesses to over 20 countries and regions including the USA, Germany, Sweden, and Turkey, becoming a global leader in new energy intelligent manufacturing solutions. In South Korea, LEAD has collaborated with top enterprises like LG, Samsung, and SK to jointly promote the development of the local lithium-ion battery industry.
AS core technologies being independently developed, LEAD has long held a first-mover advantage in product development, making the creation of more stable, intelligent, and faster cutting and stacking machines possible. Onsite staff told the media that their goal is to launch a more efficient model by 2025, leading the industry into a new era with an average efficiency of 0.1 seconds.
